Tablets are wonderful. They are portable, lightweight, and they just look freaking cool.
However – before you purchase 5 tablets for the office or try to replace your traditional box computers with tablets, run through this list to see if a tablet is right for you and your team:
- What do you plan on using the tablet for?
- Are you just using it to check email, surf the web, and edit documents on the go?
- Are you using it to remote into your desktop at home or into the office?
- Are you using it with your Line of Business Software? Do they have an App? Is the software compatible with the tablet? (Pay attention to RAM/Hard Drive space!)
- Where do you plan on using it?
- Are you just relying on WI-FI or do you need a device configured for Cellular? Heads up! Surface Pros do not have this configuration option!
- If you are going somewhere remote or to a location that does not have WI-FI consider a Hotspot from Verizon or AT&T.
- What are you storing on the tablet? And where will you need to access it?
- Do you need cameras? If so, do you need them on the front and back of the tablet?
- How long will you need to use the tablet for? How long is the battery life and do you need a backup battery pack?
